Must not be proud
Isaiah 2:12
The LORD Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled),
Galatians 5:26
Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Must do nothing through vainglory
Philippians 2:3
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
Must not turn to the proud
Psalms 40:4
Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.
Must associate with those who are humble
Romans 12:16
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
Must remember they have been saved through grace, not through their own goodness
Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—
9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
Have no reason for self-praise (boasting)
1 Corinthians 1:29
So that no one may boast before him.
1 Corinthians 1:31
Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.”
Romans 3:27
Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith.
Possess love which is not boastful
1 Corinthians 13:4
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
