The Peace with God

By Billy Graham.

Jesus Christ came to reverse the effects of the fall. He brings peace with God, peace to the human heart and peace between persons….

The Bible speaks of peace with God. Jesus Christ has made it possible for rebellious humans to be reconciled to God through his atoning death on the Cross-and his resurrection. “Therefore,” the Bible says, “being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).

From God’s point of view we are already at war with him. We need reconciliation; we need peace with God. Christ alone can change the human heart.

Where does war come from? How did it start? The first war was when Cain killed Abel. Why? Because sin was in Cain’s heart. The book of James answers the question of where war comes from: “Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?” (James 4:1). That is why human solutions alone cannot solve in any lasting way the problems we face in our world. Only Christ can deal with our deepest problem. The deepest problem we face is the spiritual problem of the human heart that needs to be reconciled to God and forgiven of its sin.

I’ve Found a Friend:

I’ve found a Friend, O such a Friend! So kind and true and tender,
So wise a counselor and guide, so mighty a defender!
From him who loves me now so well, what power my soul can saver?
Shall life or death, or earth or hell? No I am his forever.
Think it over:  Christ doesn’t expect us to produce more than we can, but he does expect us to produce all that we can by his power with us. That is a lot more than most of us think is possible. We expect too little from God, and we attempt too little for him.  Success is bearing as much fruit as possible given your gifts, opportunities, and potential.
