1 Corinthians 3:11-15
11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one
already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 If any man builds on this foundation using gold,
silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw,
13 his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day
will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test
the quality of each man's work.
14 If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward.
15 If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will
be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.
1 Corinthians 9:27
No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have
preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Ephesians 4:11-16
11 It was he, who gave some to be apostles, some to be
prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,
12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the
body of Christ may be built up
13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge
of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the
fullness of Christ.
14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth
by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the
cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things
grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.
16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every
supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its
work.
Evangelism
"A zealous man feels that like a lamp he is made to
burn; and if consumed in burning, he has but done the work for which God
appointed him. Such a one will always find a sphere for his zeal. If he cannot
preach and work and give money, he will cry and sigh and pray." - J. C.
