Mr Samuel R. C. Bhalla, A man of 59 with Diabetes, heart
ailment, was eventually diagnosed with cancer in the kidney that affected his
left thigh. Most of the renowned doctors of the city have advised him not to go
for surgery in the midst of this list of complaints he has. However, the
Kohinoor Hospital at Kurla took this surgery as a challenge and went for it. On
the operation table it so happened that the heart beats of Mr Bhalla started
sinking and was given 12 shocks to recover the beats. Mr Bhalla, The Assistant
Commissioner of Central Excise Dept. Thane 3, experienced severe pain in his
left thigh on 16th of August. With great difficulty he somehow managed to reach
home and shared his problem with his daughter who is also a doctor. After which
began the series of inspections consequently revealing the Cancer of Kidney.
Following investigations proved that there is Tumour growing in his left thigh.
Ruling out this tumour was inevitable. But the heart was not efficient enough
to get the surgery done and so the Bhalla’s were greatly worried.
For last twenty plus years Mr Bhalla has been medicated with
the Insulin to control his diabetes. And now the surgery was a big challenge in
front of the doctors as it was said. The family rushed to almost all the best
doctors in the city and outside, for ruling out the tumour but in vain. All the
doctors just suggested ruling out the cancerous ailment by taking medicines
rather than going for surgery. Finally, Kohinoor Hospital at Kurla came forward
and said yes to get him operated for the tumour.
Mr Bhalla was a very delicate patient for them as he was
having multiple health issues. Without this surgery he would not have a
painless body throughout his life and a wheelchair would be his only friend.
When Dr. Mahesh Kuvelkar and his team examined Mr. Bhalla’s case, they came to
the conclusion that this challenge can be accepted and they wanted to go ahead
with the surgery. Including the efficient team of cardiologists, oncologists
and the anaesthetists the team ventured into the seemingly impossible affair.
While the surgery was on, it was noticed that heart beats of
the patient were depleting. He had irregular contractions and the team started
the option of giving him shocks which would regain his heart and function
properly. After applying 12 shocks the heart of Mr. Bhalla started pumping
normal. The doctors had already made me aware of the implications of the
surgery said Mr. Bhalla. When he came back from his unconscious state and was
told the entire episode of what had happened in the Operation Theatre says
Bhalla that he had given thanks to the Almighty God for what He has done for
him during the surgery and paid his gratitude to the doctors also for being
instrumental in getting his life back and now he lives.
Mr. Bhalla Testimony:
I give God all the glory, honor and praise for fulfilling the
promise he made to me in Isaiah 41:10, for taking me through the valley of
shadow of death and bringing me out alive. For he is a God who is able to do
more than we can ask or imagine.
