Colossians 1:9-11
9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have
not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of
his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10 And we pray this in
order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every
way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11
being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you
may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully.
Being the Boss over Your Desires (Self-Control)
2 Timothy 2:3-5
3 Endure hardships with us like a good soldier of Christ
Jesus. 4 No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs—he wants
to please his commanding officer. 5 Similarly, if anyone competes as an
athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to
the rules.
Prize of Life (Crown)
Revelation 2:9-10
9 I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich!
I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a
synagogue of Satan. 10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell
you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer
persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will
give you the crown of life.
Knowing All Is Well
1 Peter 2:9-10
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy
nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who
called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a
people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but
now you have received mercy.
