One Step in Developing Humility

If we believe we are too spiritually mature to fail, we should beware! The Bible portrays the sins of past spiritual leaders as a warning to us to remain humble and open to correction. We each need to reassess our personal walk with God in honesty before Him. Each of us will be held responsible for our actions and attitudes.

Quotes

“It is not that we keep His commandments first, and that then He loves; but that He loves us, and then we keep His commandments. This is that grace, which is revealed to the humble, but hidden from the proud.” —St. Augustine of Hippo

“The childish idea that prayer is a handle by which we can take hold of God and obtain whatever we desire, leads to easy disillusionment with both what we had thought to be God and what we had thought to be prayer.” —Robert L. Short

“Jesus remains unshaken as the practical man; and we stand exposed as the fools, the blunderers, the unpractical visionaries.” —George Bernard Shaw

Preach

That great city and preach -

John 3:2

He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

Time Jesus began to preach -

Matthew 4:17

From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
You hear in the ear, preach -

Matthew 10:27

What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.

Evangelism

- If you are strangers to prayer you are strangers to power. - Billy Sunday
"All great soul-winners have been men of much and mighty prayer, and all great revivals have been preceded and carried out by persevering, prevailing knee-
"Continuing instant in prayer (Rom. 12:12). The Greek is a metaphor taken from hunting dogs that never give over the game till they have their prey." - Thomas Brooks
