First persecution – arrest of Peter and John
Acts 4:1-3
And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. And they arrested them and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.
Acts 5:17
But the high priest rose up, and all who were with him (that is, the party of the Sadducees), and filled with jealousy
Acts 5:25
And someone came and told them, “Look! The men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people.”
Acts 8:1
And Saul approved of his execution.
And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.
Acts 9:1
But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest
Acts 12:1
About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church.
