A Blessing for Quiet Time

A Blessing for Quiet Time

As you spend time alone with God, allow the Lord to seed your heart with understanding. Invite him to spade and dig and shovel and fertilize those seeds so that his words will take root and bear fruit. Trust God to defeat the one who is lurking nearby, seeking to steal the seeds before they hit the ground.

“Plant goodness, harvests the fruit of loyalty, and plows the new ground of knowledge. Look for the Lord until he comes and pours goodness on you like water.”

Hosea 10:12

God’s Timing

Who knows what the right time is? God, who sees all at a single glance, knows. He knows when to give and He knows when to take. In every godly life there is a set time for each event. There is no need to ask, “Why is the white here and the black there? Why this gleam of sunlight and that roar of tempest?  Why here a marriage and there a funeral? Why sometimes a harp and at other times a trumpet”? God knows. And it is great blessing when we can leave it all in His hands.

Nothing to Fear

“He isn’t here! He has been raised from the dead.” Matthew 28:6

The crucifixion was marked by sudden darkness, silent angels, and mocking soldiers. At the empty tomb the soldiers are silent, an angel speaks, and light erupts like Vesuvius. The one who was dead is said to be alive, and the soldiers, who are alive, look as if they are dead. The women can tell something is up . . . The angel informs them: “He isn’t here!  He has been raised from the dead.”

Heaven unplugged the grave’s power cord, and you and I have nothing to fear. Death is disabled.
