The Hope of Christ

The Hope of Christ

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.  Lamentations 3:22, NRSV

Our God is not aloof—he’s not so far above us that he can’t see and understand our problems.  Jesus isn’t a God who stayed on the mountaintop—he’s a Savior who came down and lived and worked with the people.  Everywhere he went, the crowds followed, drawn together by the magnet that was—and is—the Savior.

The life of Jesus Christ is a message of hope. - Max Lucado

Master Plan

They put him to death by nailing him to a cross.  But this was God’s plan which he had made long ago. Acts 2:23

The cross wasn’t a tragic surprise.  Calvary was not a knee-jerk response to a world plummeting toward destruction.  It wasn’t a patch-up job or a stop-gap measure ...

The moment the forbidden fruit touched the lips of Eve, the shadow of a cross appeared on the horizon.  And between that moment and the moment the man with the mallet placed the spike against the wrist of God, a master plan was fulfilled. .. Max Lucado

Thought

True humility is intelligent self-respect which keeps us from thinking too highly or too meanly of ourselves.  It makes us mindful of the nobility God meant us to have.  Yet it makes us modest by reminding us how far we have come short of what we can be.

Ralph W. Sockman

Evangelism

"One of our troubles is we are not willing to humble ourselves. We are not willing to give up our opinions as to how things should be done. We want a revival to come just in our way. You never saw two revivals come just alike. We must let them come in God's way. People are ashamed to admit they need a revival. If you are not willing to take the shame on yourself, you then let it remain on Jesus Christ. You must bear the reproach of your sinful state of indifference, or the cause of our Master must bear it." - Mordecai Ham
