Kinds of hearts in the Bible - part 1


Forward or perverse

Proverbs 11:20

  The LORD detests men of perverse heart but he delights in those whose ways are blameless.

Proverbs 12:8

A man is praised according to his wisdom, but men with warped minds are despised.

Despiteful

Ezekiel 25:15

  “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: ‘Because the Philistines acted in vengeance and took revenge with malice in their hearts, and with ancient hostility sought to destroy Judah,

Romans 1:30 

Slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;

Fretting

Psalms 37:1-8

 1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;

2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.

3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:

6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.

Unsearchable

Proverbs 25:3 

As the heavens are high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable.

Psalms 64:6 

They plot injustice and say, “We have devised a perfect plan!” Surely the mind and heart of man are cunning.
