The cares of this life?

By a re-evaluation of spiritual versus material values:

Luke 12:15

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

By putting first things first:

Matthew 6:33

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

By casting all your cares upon him:

1 Peter 5:7

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

By prayer and thanksgiving:

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The riches of life?

By recognizing the emptiness of things apart from God:

Jeremiah 2:13

“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

By recognizing the peril of being “lovers of pleasure more than the lovers of God”:

2 Timothy 3:1-4

1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,

4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—
