The Glory of Hope

The believer’s hope is expressed in several glorious ways. God Himself called “the God of Hope”…Rom. 15:13

The hope of “the resurrection of the dead”:

Acts 23:6

Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin, “My brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee. I stand on trial because of my hope in the resurrection of the dead.”

The hope of the promise:

Acts 26:6-7

6 And now it is because of my hope in what God has promised our fathers that I am on trial today.

7 This is the promise our twelve tribes are hoping to see fulfilled as they earnestly serve God day and night. O king, it is because of this hope that the Jews are accusing me.

The hope of Israel:

Acts 28:20

For this reason I have asked to see you and talk with you. It is because of the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain.”

The hope that is the object of faith:

Romans 4:18

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

The hope of the glory of God:

Romans 5:2

Through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Colossians 1:27

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Titus 2:13

While we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

The hope that saves us:

Romans 8:24

For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has?

The hope that causes believers to endure afflictions:

 Romans 8:25

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

1 Thessalonians 1:3

We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

The hope of believer’s that comes through the Scripture:

Romans 15:4

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

The hope which is a gift of the Holy Spirit:

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The hope that is one of the three essential traits of the believer:

1 Corinthians 13:13

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

The hope in Christ:

1 Timothy 1:1

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,

The hope of righteousness:

Galatians 5:5

But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope.

The hope of God’s calling:

Ephesians 1:18

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

Ephesians 4:4

There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called—

The hope which the lost do not have:

Ephesians 2:12

Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

The hope of the gospel:

Colossians 1:23

If you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

The hope of Salvation:

1 Thessalonians 5:8

But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

The “good hope” which God gives:

2 Thessalonians 2:16

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope,

The hope of eternal life:

Titus 1:2

A faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,

The “blessed hope” of the Lord’s return:

Titus 2:13

While we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,

The hope that stirs diligence and gives full assurance:

Hebrews 6:11

We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure.

The hope which anchors the believer’s soul:

Hebrews 6:19

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,

The hope that stirs belief:

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

The “living hope” of the believer:

1 Peter 1:3

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

The hope that stirs believer’s to purify themselves:

1 John 3:3

Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.
