Miscellaneous Commands from the Bible

Provoke not children to wrath

Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Colossians 3:21

Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

Purge out old leaven

1 Corinthians 5:7

Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb has been sacrificed.

Purify hearts of doubt

James 4:8

Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Put others in remembrance of essentials

2 Timothy 2:14

Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.

Quench not the Spirit

1 Thessalonians 5:19

Do not put out the Spirit's fire;

Raise the dead

Matthew 10:8

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

Receive weak brethren

Romans 14:1

Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters.

Receive one another

Romans 15:7

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

Receive Word with meekness

James 1:21

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Reckon self-dead to sin

Romans 6:11

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
