First, the world hates you because you are not of the world:
John 15:19
If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.
As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the
world. That is why the world hates you.
You are called out from the world. You are in the world, but
you are not of the world. You are separated from the world from its:
Spirit, friends, thoughts, comfort, conversation, religion,
pleasures, prejudices, passions, hoarding, covetousness and carnality.
Because of your separation, the world does not love you; it
rejects and hates you.
John 17:16
They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.
2 Corinthians 6:17-18
17 “Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the
Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”
18 “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and
daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
The world hates you because you are identified with Christ:
John 15:20
Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater
than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they
obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.
It is impossible for a true disciple to be above his Master
or for a servant to be above the Lord. If our Master and Lord suffered
persecution, so will we. Why? He is our Master and Lord; that is, we are His.
What He stands for is what we stand for. Whatever there was about Him that
caused men to persecute Him, the same is in us. They will persecute us for the
same thing and for the same reason. The genuine believer sacrifices himself,
all he is and has, to the Lord. He strives to conform his life to the Lord’s;
therefore, persecution is inevitable for the true believer.
