Significance of the name of Jesus

It’s the name above every name:

Philippians 2:9

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,

Everyone will acknowledge Jesus as Lord:

Philippians 2:10-11

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

God’s commandment is to believe in Jesus’ name:

1 John 3:23

And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

Church is identified as those who call on Jesus’ name:

1 Corinthians 1:2

To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:

Everything we do should be in Jesus’ name:

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Peter preached baptism in Jesus’ name:

Acts 2:8

Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language?

Lame man healed in Jesus’ name:

Acts 3:6

Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
