Jesus and Angels

Jesus was closely associated with angels. Rev. 1:1 reveals that He commissions His angels to do His bidding. An angel was used to announce Jesus’ coming birth to the Virgin Mary and her finance, Joseph.. Luke 1:26 In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, Matthew 1:20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

Angels also attend Jesus’ birth and announced it to the shepherds – Luke 2:8 and there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.

They protected Him from Herod’s jealous wrath - Matthew 2:13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” Matthew 2:22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee,

And later in life, at the end of His 40 day fast, they ministered to Him and strengthened Him - Matthew 4:11  Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

During His agonizing struggle on the night in which He was betrayed, and angel strengthened Jesus in preparation for the Cross - Luke 22:43 an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. These celestial creatures were present at Jesus’ resurrection - Matthew 28:2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it, and ascension - Acts 1:10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.

Finally, Jesus will return “in glory of His Father with His angels” - Matthew 16:27 for the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. We will meet them in the air! - 1 Thessalonians 4:16  For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
