“Old” Things in Scripture

Time

Jeremiah 2:20 

“Long ago you broke off your yoke and tore off your bonds; you said, ‘I will not serve you!’ Indeed, on every high hill and under every spreading tree you lay down as a prostitute.

Matthew 5:21 

“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’

Matthew 5:27 

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’

Matthew 5:33 

“Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.’

Paths

Jeremiah 6:16 

This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

Rotten rags

Jeremiah 38:11 

So Ebed-Melech took the men with him and went to a room under the treasury in the palace. He took some old rags and worn-out clothes from there and let them down with ropes to Jeremiah in the cistern.

Ezekiel 36:11 

I will increase the number of men and animals upon you, and they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

JESUS

He knows every nerve in our body. This is the God who has saved us and forgiven us of our sins.
