Confessing Sins

God wanted the children of Israel to confess their sins:

Those who had brought a trespass offering -

Leviticus 5:5-6

5 “‘when anyone is guilty in any of these ways, he must confess in what way he has sinned
6 and, as a penalty for the sin he has committed, he must bring to the LORD a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin.

God was pleased with those who confessed their sins -

Leviticus 26:40-42

40 “‘But if they will confess their sins and the sins of their fathers—their treachery against me and their hostility toward me,

41 which made me hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin,

42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

Hosea 5:15

Then I will go back to my place until they admit their guilt. And they will seek my face; in their misery they will earnestly seek me.”

Jeremiah exhorted the people to confess their sins -

Jeremiah 3:13

Only acknowledge your guilt— you have rebelled against the LORD your God, you have scattered your favors to foreign gods under every spreading tree, and have not obeyed me,’” declares the LORD.

Those who confess and forsake their sins shall receive mercy -

Proverbs 28:13

He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Daniel confessed his personal sins and those of his people -

Please read - Daniel  9:1-20
