Old

Young and now am old -

Psalms 37:25

I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.

Obsolete and growing old -

Hebrews 8:13

By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.

Thoughts:

– How does your perspective about your own possessions need to change so that you can rejoice with others over their possessions?

– What do you think God wants you to fill your life with instead of possessions?

– Christians talk a lot about God giving them the desires of their heart. What kind of desires do you think God wants to give you?

JESUS

+ Our God is huge!  He is mighty! He is everywhere and knows everything!

+ He is worthy of all our praises, honor and worship.

Ravi Zacharias

. “I think the reason we sometimes have the false sense that God is so far away is because that is where we have put him. We have kept him at a distance, and then when we are in need and call on him in prayer, we wonder where he is. He is exactly where we left him.”

. “Implicit to the secularized world-view is not just the marginalization of any religious idea but its complete eviction from public credence in forming social policy. If an idea or belief is “religiously based”, be it in a matter of sexuality or marriage or education or whatever, then by that very virtue it is deemed unsuitable for public usage.”

Hinders knowledge of God

Jeremiah 9:6

You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,” declares the LORD.

Keeps men from God

Jeremiah 8:5

Why then have these people turned away? Why does Jerusalem always turn away? They cling to deceit; they refuse to return.
