Facts about the Fear of God

We are commanded to fear God:

Deuteronomy 6:24

The LORD commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear the LORD our God, so that we might always prosper and be kept alive, as is the case today.

God asks us to do:

Deuteronomy 14:23

Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always.

It is good to fear God:

1 Samuel 12:14

If you fear the LORD and serve and obey him and do not rebel against his commands, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the LORD your God—good!

We should be sure to fear him:

1 Samuel 12:24

But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.

Evangelism

"God will not let me get the blessing without asking. Today I am setting my face to fast and pray for enlightenment and refreshing. Until I can get up to the measure of at least two hours in pure prayer every day, I shall not be contented. Meditation and reading besides." - Andrew Bonar

"Prayer does not enable us to do a greater work for God. Prayer is a greater work for God." -Thomas Chalmers

"Prayer is not learned in a classroom but in the closet."    - E. M. Bounds
