God’s Five Purposes:

God created you to fulfill five purposes on earth:

1) He made you to be a member of his family,

2) A model of his character,

3) A magnifier of his glory,

4) A minister of his grace,

5) and a messenger of his Good News to others.

Of these five purposes, the fifth can only be done on earth. The other four you’ll keep doing in eternity. That’s why spreading the Good News is so important; you have only a short time to share your life message and fulfill your mission.

The Crown of Life

James 1:12

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Thought on this verse

The crown of life is a promise that God grants to those who love Him. Though we endure tremendous trials and tribulations, we will not be crushed. Our suffering will end in the glory of Jesus Christ and we will receive the crown of life. What a beautiful ending for this life! May God be glorified in our daily trials. May we seek His face and continue to be molded into His perfect image.

Think it over

Character is what you are in the dark

Quotes

-  To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you

- There is a loyalty which turns into idolatry.  The very thing which once freed us can turn into the very thing that enslaves us: a method of prayer, a technique of mediation, a way of expressing ourselves through art, music, writing or speaking, which was once the channel through which God reaches us, may have become the very thing which prevents our continued growth.

We may confuse the channels of God with God himself!!  This turns us into idolaters of a certain system.  We become fixed and petrified.  It's natural to thrill at each new level of growth and feel that we've arrived.  But God, the living God, keeps breaking our old molds; He constantly enlarges us, presenting new challenges and new sacraments

- I don't just commit sin.  Apart from God, I am sinful.  My problem is not just what I do; it's who I am without His nature

- He most fruitful and the most joy-filled Christians are the most pruned Christians
