Will I have my family in heaven?

There is no reason to suppose that there could not be families in heaven. However, all Christians are part of God’s family now, and the bonds that draw human families together probably will not be necessary in heaven. There, we will all be part of one enormous family, and we will all feel a deep love for everyone else. There will not be the idea that “I am here with my wife and the two of us are separate from everyone else.” We will all be one in Christ (Eph. 3:14-15).

Though we all probably have families in heaven, note two things:

First, your husband or wife or child or parent will be in heaven with you--if you are a Christian--only if they have been born again by the Spirit of God (John 3:3, 5). Your closeness to God will not save the members of your family. They must have their own personal relationships with Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31).

Second, Jesus said there will no longer be human proclamation in heaven and the necessity of mating and child nurture will cease (Mark 1225).

1 Corinthians 13:6

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

Thoughts on this verse…

Love does have its delights. One of those delights is in what is authentic, genuine, and true -- TRUTH! So as Jesus' disciples, we are not deceitful, manipulative, or coercive in our relationships. Instead, we are transparent, intimate, and honest. Why? Because true love delights in truth.

Thoughts

. What the Word of God is to the soul, water is to the body.

. The world may discount you, but in God’s eyes you are priceless.

. To feel good about yourself, do what pleases God.

. A bite of sin leaves a bitter aftertaste.

. The highest motive for serving God is the desire to please Him.

. A friend of God will be a stranger to the world.
