Are you helping God?

Do you think God is too slow in answering your prayers for another’s salvation? When we care for someone we are tempted to get impatient and take things into our own hands. Let the “Lord of the harvest” decide when harvest time is to come. If you set a certain date for someone to get saved and turn their life over to God, you may want to give up if it doesn’t happen according to your deadline.  God does not want you to give up; therefore, do not set a time for your harvest and don’t quit praying! Keep planting the seed, using your weapons, and interceding until God’s time comes, and “your rebel” is in the Body of Christ.

Don’t try to “help” God with His master plan. We may try to bribe our loved one: offer Sunday dinner of all their favorite foods if they’ll just come to church. We may try to use guilt on Mother’s Day by saying, “Go to church one time before your grandma dies--it would make her happy.” We are trying to use natural methods to fight a spiritual battle--it won’t work!

We are human, but we can’t wage a spiritual war with human methods. Rather, we must use God’s mighty weapons to knock down the devil’s strongholds. With these weapons we conquer their rebellious ideas, and teach them to obey Christ. You cannot change another’s will through your own actions. Our job is to bring the unsaved and the rebellious before God in prayer.

It is not your effort that brings answered prayer. You cannot use your will to overcome the will of another. Do not allow yourself to become weary and tired, continuing on in your own strength. It is the power of God that will break down the strongholds. Using His power does not require yours. Depend upon and trust that your God and His Word will do the work, not your methods. Let God deal with another’s free will. Faithfully perform the task God gave to you, and trust Him to honor His Word. He knows how to handle people.

Spiritual Thoughts

. Your unhappiness is due not to a want of something outside of you, but to a want of something inside you.  You were made for perfect happiness.  No wonder everything short of God disappoints you. - Fulton Sheen

. This is a wise, sane Christian faith: that a man commit himself, his life and his hopes to God; that God undertakes the special protection of that man; that therefore that man ought not to be afraid of anything! - George McDonald
