Pride

Pride of Race – National –

John 8:33

They answered Him, “We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”

Pride of Place – Social –

James 2:2-3

For if there should come into your assembly a man with gold rings, in fine apparel, and there should also come in a poor man in filthy clothes, and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say to him, “You sit here in a good place,” and say to the poor man, “You stand there,” or, “Sit here at my footstool,”

Pride of Face – Personal –

James 1:24

for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Pride of Grace – Spiritual –

1 Timothy 6:4

that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ's appearing,

Romans 12:17-18

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. —

REDEMPTIVELY — That's how Jesus lived! He sought to make a difference in the lives of others. His goal wasn't getting even, getting what was rightfully his, or even winning the arguments. His focus was to interact with people receptively and to leave them more blessed than where he found them.
