Prayer – Scripture Reading.

[Prayer for blessing on your Scripture reading]

Psalm 119:15-16

I meditate on your precepts
 and consider your ways.
    I delight  in your decrees;
 I will not neglect your word.

Psalm 119:18

Open my eyes that I may see
 wonderful things in your law.

Psalm 119:97

Oh, how I love your law!
 I meditate  on it all day long.

Psalm 119:103-105

How sweet are your words to my taste,
 sweeter than honey  to my mouth!
    I gain understanding  from your precepts;
 therefore I hate every wrong path.
   Your word is a lamp  for my feet,
 a light  on my path.

Thoughts

"If ever I reach heaven I expect to find three wonders there: first, to meet some I had not thought to see there; second, to miss some I had expected to see there; and third — the greatest wonder of all — to find myself there." - John Newton

"Only he who flings himself upward when the pull comes to drag him down, can hope to break the force of temptation. Temptation may be an invitation to hell, but much more is it an opportunity to reach heaven. At the moment of temptation, sin and righteousness are both very near the Christian; but, of the two, the latter is the nearer." - Charles H. Brent
