Learning to say No

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age...” Titus 2:11-12

Grace is not about excuses for our sins, but about a deep-seated thanksgiving for pardon and a life-changing commitment to say "No!" to all that is evil, corrupt, and wicked no matter how alluring or how pervasive they may be in our culture.

In the name of Jesus

“For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them. — Matthew 18:20

When are friends more than friends? When they gather in the name of Jesus and he meets with them there.”

How God Uses Your Praise

A.B. Simpson called praise  both a physical tonic and a wholesome stimulant. Praise  will change the atmosphere of your life, your home, and your church. A  word of praise  of a chorus or hymn of praise can make a home devotional time come to life.
You will be daily growing in spiritual strength if you plan and practice praise  constantly. Spurgeon said, “When we bless God for mercies, we prolong them; and when  we bless Him for miseries, we usually end them.”

Prayer

. Lord, I know You care about the poor. Jesus ministry was especially focused on the poor, and it also seemed like the poor were often more receptive to His message. Forgive me for my past lack of concern for the poor, Lord, and help me to see them from now on through Your eyes. I pray for justice for the poor. Help the poor to be treated fairly in our land and give the poor a heart that lovingly receives that justice. Let the golden rule become the order of the day; the normal procedure; the rule of thumb. Let love rule the land in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

"We never become truly spiritual by sitting down and wishing to become so. You must undertake something so great that you cannot accomplish it unaided." - Phillips Brooks

"Above all, desire to please Christ; dread his disapproval above everything else." - Rowland Croucher
