Christian Watchfulness

1.Watch and Pray – Personal and Individual

A – We watch against temptation – Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
B – We watch for the Lord – Matthew 25:13
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

2. Watch and Pray – For the Souls of Men

A – Satan seeks to ruin souls – 1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

B – We manifest  our concern for souls – acts 20:31
Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.

Hebrews 13:17

Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

3. Watch and Pray – with and for our brethren

A – Young Christians need help – Romans 15:1-2

We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.

B – If we watch and pray together, God will work mightily

Matthew 18:19
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven
