5. Edifies the life as we heed it – Acts 20:32
So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified
6. Fires the heart to a faithful testimony –
Jer. 1:1
The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin
Jer. 23:29
“Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord,
“And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
7. Guides those who follow its light – Ps. 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
8. Heals the spirit as it is applied -Psalm 107:20
He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions.
9. It forms the mind as to its secrets –
1 Cor. 2:9
But as it is written:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
Isaiah 64:4
For since the beginning of the world
Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear,
Nor has the eye seen any God besides You,
Who acts for the one who waits for Him.
10. Judges the conduct and maketh wise – Ps. 19: 9-11
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.
