Father and Son, Greater Works!

John 5:19-20
“Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself;  he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.   For the Father loves the Son  and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these,  so that you will be amazed”

Astonished? Yes, that is the word for it. Jesus will do many more miracles in his ministry, he will touch many more people, and he will teach many other awe-inspiring truths.

The people around Jesus haven't begun to see all that the Father will reveal through his Son. The greatest of the revelations, however, will bring the people to full astonishment; the Father will raise his Son from the dead and bring him back to life in their presence. They will be astonished. Then some of them will begin to do great works in his name, and the work of Jesus will continue to astonish as he works through his disciples. Jesus' work is astonishing! And, if you will look closely, some of that astonishing work is being done in you!

Why Should We Love God?

Mark 12:28-34
Most of us are familiar with what is commonly called the Great Commandment—to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Yet none of us feel adequate for such a task. Our hearts are fickle, our souls are often self-absorbed, our minds are easily distracted, and our strength falls short. We have an earthly existence that demands our time, attention, and energy. As a result, we often fail to focus on the One who is worthy of our wholehearted devotion.

What God Sees

  Hebrews 11:4
By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
