Praying for Others

We constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. - 2 Thessalonians 1:11
Paul prays for God to be active in the lives of these new Christians — to maximize the good they intend to do as well as fully bless every good deed they do out of their commitment of faith. What new Christian do you need to pray this for?

The Power of the Cross

. To deliver from the World
Galatians 6:14
But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
. In the New Birth
Galatians 4:4-7
But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

The Sphere of Exaltation

Mark 9:2
Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them.

Individual Discouragement and Personal Enlargement

Exodus 2:11
Now it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and looked at their burdens. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.

Thought

. God knows best what cross we need to bear, and we never know how heavy someone else’s cross may be.  We envy someone who is rich, with a cross of gold, adorned with jewels, but we do not know how heavy it is.  We look at someone whose life seems so easy and who carries a cross covered with flowers.  Yet if we could actually test all the crosses we think are lighter than ours, we would never find one better suited for us than our own. - J. R. Miller
