How do we Pray?

O LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief. – Psalm 143:1

Some days are just plain tough! Those we care about are hurting. Our plans are falling through. Our prayers seem to bounce off the ceiling and fall at our feet. We cry out to God — sometimes in anger, sometimes in desperation, but especially for mercy. We need relief! We need hope! We need the Father to respond.

When Yes Means No

Romans 8:22-28

For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

   Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

   And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Father, We Praise Thee

Father, we praise thee, now the night is over;
Active and watchful, we all before thee; singing, we
Offer prayers and meditation; Thus we adore thee.

Faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22-23

Prayer:
Faithful God, when I am discouraged, help me to lift up my eyes to look beyond my present grief to the gift of hope that you give all of us, on a daily basis, and to choose to trust your loving and faithful nature rather than despair. Amen.
