Jesus: What a Name!

Luke 1:26-33
There has never been a birth announcement equal to that of the Lord Jesus. Who else’s birth has been proclaimed by angels—not just once, but three times?

First, the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, informing her that she would be the mother of the Son of God, who would sit on the throne of David and rule forever.

. Next, an angel came to tell Joseph that the child Mary carried was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matt. 1:18-21).

And finally, a host of angels appeared to shepherds, announcing that the Savior had been born (Luke 2:8-14).

Mercy and the Christian Life

Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves  with compassion, kindness, humility,  gentleness and patience.

Matthew 5:7
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.

The discipline of dismay

Mark 10:32
They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid. Again he took the Twelve  aside and told them what was going to happen to him.

Thoughts

. In Happy moments, praise God.  Difficult moments, seek God.  Quiet moments, worship God.  Painful moments, trust God.  Every moment, thank God! - Unknown

. The better a person knows himself, the smaller and less significant he seems to himself, and the higher he elevates himself toward God. - Thomas Kempis

. Just as one candle lights another and can light thousands of other candles, so one heart illuminates another heart and can illuminate thousands of other hearts. - Leo Tolstoy
