Be encouraged - 3

What is it? What he did?

He prayed to God. V. 3 “Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast  for all Judah.”

He did not seek the help of his security people for war or to fight the war, but remembered only Almighty God. He proclaimed fasting Prayer. He called all his kingdom’s people to assemble and start the fasting prayer. It’s difficult to believe what’s happening here, because other side three armies are all set to fight against him but here King Jehoshaphat instead of arranging his army and planning war strategy, instead going towards God with all of his people.

King  Jehoshaphat is praying now, what kind of prayer he did?

V. 5-6 tells us “Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the Lord in the front of the new courtyard   and said:

“Lord, the God of our ancestors,  are you not the God who is in heaven?  You rule over all the kingdoms  of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you.”
What a great moment and spiritual truth that one can learn from this incident.

How we would have been behaved or dealt with such a situation in our lives? we would have gone in worldly way tapping all the sources for our immediate help. We would have cried in front of others for help or we would have gone to any extent to seek the help from others.

King Jehoshaphat said NO for all such help. He just and only remembered Almighty Lord God, who can help him, sustain him and solve his problems.

It’s time for us to as we going through this message to examine our personal lives, thus far what we have done in our lives – when problems, difficulties or even sickness are around us.

In King Jehoshaphat’s life everything was going on well, but all of a suddenly this calamity occurs and he faced the problem through the help of Heavenly Father.

Now, the question is, by now we all learnt that King Jehoshaphat was a good, righteous, God fearing King. Why he had to face this kind of situation?

One can immediately to answer this question, well this is nothing new, many good people are also facing problems. Agreeing with you, my next question is, how they have dealt with such situation and how King Jehoshaphat faced!

It’s a difference.
