The Miraculous Birth of Christ

. Is miraculous in His Conception

Matthew 1:18

This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 1:20

But after he had considered this, an angel  of the Lord appeared to him in a dream  and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

. Is miraculous in His Commission

Matthew 1:21

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,  because he will save his people from their sins.”

Matthew 1:25

But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

. Is miraculous in His Condescension

Matthew 1:22

All this took place to fulfil  what the Lord had said through the prophet:

Matthew 1:23

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”  (which means “God with us”).

Thoughts

Christmas

. “As this Christmas approaches, I pray you will look at Jesus—as He is revealed in the pages of the New Testament—with an open heart and mind. When you do, you’ll discover not only that God is real, but that He loves you and wants to transform your life.” – Billy Graham

. “That baby who was born to Mary was more than just another man—He was God in human flesh. He came into the world for one reason: to make it possible for our sins to be forgiven, so we could become part of God’s family forever.”
