God’s Testimony
“The testimony of the
Lord is sure, making wise the simple.”
Psalm 19:7, NKJV
“God’s testimony,” wrote David, “makes wise the simple.”
God’s testimony. When was the last time you witnessed it? A
stroll through knee-high grass in a green meadow. An hour listening to seagulls
or . . . witnessing the shafts of sunlight brighten the snow on a crisp winter
dawn. Miracles happen all around us; we only have to pay attention.
God Created
“In the beginning God
created . . .” Genesis 1:1
A mighty hand went to work . . .
Out of nothing came light. Out of light came day . . .
Canyons were carved. Oceans were dug. Mountains erupted out
of flatlands. Stars were flung. A universe sparkled.
The hand behind it was mighty.
He is mighty
God is for you
“God is the strength
of my heart.” Psalm 73:26, NKJV
God is for you. Turn to the sidelines; that’s God cheering
your run. Look past the finish line; that’s God applauding your steps. Listen
for Him in the bleachers, shouting your name. Too tired to continue? He’ll
carry you. Too discouraged to fight? He’s picking you up. God is for you.
Go To God
“Anyone who is having
troubles should pray.” James 5:13
Have you taken your disappointments to God? You’ve shared
them with your neighbor, your relatives, your friends. But have you taken them
to God?
Before you go anywhere else with your disappointments, go to
God.
God Is In Charge
“Thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory forever.” Matthew 6:13 RSV
“Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.”
What protection this . . . phrase affords. As you confess that God is in
charge, you admit that you aren’t. As you proclaim that God has power, you
admit that you don’t. And as you give God all the applause, there is none left
to dizzy your brain.
