“Taste an see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.” – Psalm 34:8
Some aspects of faith are indescribable: they can only be experienced and known by doing them. Taste the Lord. Sample his goodness. Lean on his grace. Take refuge in his care. We are blessed to find him near and take our refuge from life's greatest dangers and death's greatest fears.
The Father's Will: Eternal Life!
For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” - John 6:40
So often, people picture God as a surly old man looking for people who mess up so he can punish them. God's will, however, is that all come to salvation. He doesn't want any person to perish. He wants all to know Jesus and find salvation in him. Jesus is the way to God.
Jesus is the door to a new and lasting life — not a temporary one, whether real or imagined. Jesus is the focus, the hope, and the life behind God's plan. Learning to believe in Jesus is everything! Learning to see Jesus as God's Son is the doorway to forever! We receive a life that outlasts history and the assurance that nothing can ever conquer us once we belong to Jesus (Romans 8:31-39)! He will raise us up in victory.
God's Work on People's Hearts
“Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered. “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. - John 6:43-44
One of the reasons we pray so fervently for the lost is that God's work of opening their hearts and drawing them to Jesus is crucial. Who are you praying for God to draw closer to Jesus? Or maybe better questions are, "Who do you know that needs Jesus? Are you praying for God to draw them close?"
