The Rapture and the second coming contrasted
Luke 21:36
Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to
escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before
the Son of Man.”
Matthew 24:29-30
29 “Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun
will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall
from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’
30 “At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear
in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son
of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-17
13 Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those
who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.
14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we
believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
15 According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who
are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not
precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a
loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God,
and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be
caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so
we will be with the Lord forever.
Jude 1:14
Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men:
“See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones
John 14:3
And if I go
and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that
you also may be where I am.
Revelation
19:14
The armies
of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen,
white and clean.
Zechariah
14:4-5
4 On that
day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the
Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley,
with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.
5 You will
flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you
fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my
God will come and all the holy ones with him.
