Facts about God’s Throne


God is spoken of as sitting on a throne:

1 Kings 22:19 -Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the host of heaven standing around him on his right and on his left.

2 Chronicles 18:18 -Micaiah continued, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne with all the host of heaven standing on his right and on his left.

Psalms 9:4 - For you have upheld my right and my cause; you have sat on your throne, judging righteously.

Psalms 47:8 - God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne.

Daniel 7:9 - “As I looked, “thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.

Revelation 4:2 -At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.

Revelation 4:10 - the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne, and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

Revelation 5:1 - Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals.

Revelation 5:7 - He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.

Revelation 5:13 - Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”

Revelation 6:16 - They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

Revelation 19:4 -The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried: “Amen, Hallelujah!”

Revelation 21:5 - He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

It is now in heaven:

Psalms 11:4 - The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them.

It is called Thy throne:

Psalms 89:14 -Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.

Psalms 93:2 -Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.

Psalms 132:12 -if your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever.”

It is called the throne of grace:

Hebrews 4:16 - Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

It is called the throne of His majesty:

Hebrews 8:1 -The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,
