1 Timothy 1:3-5
3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in
Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any
longer
4 nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies.
These promote controversies rather than God's work—which is by faith.
5 The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure
heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
1 Corinthians 4:16-17
16 Therefore I urge you to imitate me.
17 For this reason I am sending to you Timothy, my son whom I
love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in
Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.
Acts 11:30
This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas
and Saul.
Acts 14:23
Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church
and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put
their trust.
Acts 15:2-3
2 This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and
debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other
believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this
question.
3 The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled
through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted.
This news made all the brothers very glad.
Acts 15:4
When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church
and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done
through them.
Acts 15:7
After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them:
“Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the
Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.
