They are a gift which comes from God:
Genesis 33:5
Then Esau looked up and saw the women and children. “Who are these with you?” he asked. Jacob answered, “They are the children God has graciously given your servant.”
They are a heritage from God:
Psalms 127:3
Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.
Children’s children are crown of old men:
Proverbs 17:6
Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.
They are known by their doings:
Proverbs 20:11
Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right.
Teach them diligently the Word of God time and again:
Deuteronomy 6:6-7
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Teach them to fear God:
Deuteronomy 31:12-13
12 Assemble the people—men, women and children, and the aliens living in your towns—so they can listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and follow carefully all the words of this law.
13 Their children, who do not know this law, must hear it and learn to fear the LORD your God as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
Teach them the Scriptures from their infancy:
2 Timothy 3:15
And how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
