Two unbecoming things

Proverbs 17:7

Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool—how much worse lying lips to a ruler!

The power of gifts – Proverbs 17:8

A bribe is seen as a charm by the one who gives it;
 they think success will come at every turn.

How to win friends and make enemies – Proverbs 17:9

Whoever would foster love covers over an offense,
but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

How to classify certain men – Proverbs 17:10-11

A rebuke impresses a discerning person
 more than a hundred lashes a fool.
    Evildoers foster rebellion against God;
 the messenger of death will be sent against them.

Good advice for all – Proverbs 17:12-14

Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs
 than a fool bent on folly.
    Evil will never leave the house
 of one who pays back evil  for good.
    Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam;
 so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.

Romans 14:1

Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. —

Our life in Christ is such a blessing! We welcome new Christians into our fellowship to share that blessing. We don't bring them in to scrutinize their past failures or the current struggles, but to bring them into the love of God's family. God has welcomed us graciously and compassionately. Let's do the same with new Christians.
