Purpose of Christ’s Coming

1. To pay back those who troubled us – 1 Thessalonians 1:6

And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit

2. To give relief to the troubled – 2 Thessalonians 1:7

So that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe.

3. To be glorified in his people – 2 Thessalonians 2:10

and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

4. To be marvelled by believers – 2 Thessalonians 2:20

and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

5. To prove our faith with glory – 1 Peter 1:7

that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

6. To give us an imperishable body -1 Corinthians 15:52

in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

7. To give the hidden motives – 1 Corinthians 4:5

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from God.

Romans 8:11

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. —
The Holy Spirit doesn't just empower us now. He is our guarantee (2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5) and our assurance that we will see God face to face (1 John 3:1-2) and share in his glory (Colossians 3:1-4). He is alive in us and promises us life that never will end.
