Be encouraged - 6

At the same time, when someone calls Jesus, he never goes away. When he heard the voice from Bartimaeus, he told his disciples call him. Bartimaeus was now in the presence of Jesus. Jesus asked him tell me what do you want me to do for you. Immediately he asked him for His healing touch for eyes and healed.

Point, I want make here is after this visit to Jericho, Jesus never came back to Jericho again. It was His last walk on that road, when Bartimaeus used that opportunity to meet Him and got healed. If he would have missed that opportunity he would have been blind rest of his life.

Thus King Jehoshaphat knew Lord God is close to him, if he calls Him, He is going to hear and give whatever he asks Him. That’s the reason he did not give any attention to prepare his army but as V.12 tells, he said – we do not know what to do, we cannot face the vast army but our eyes are only looking up to You.

Like Bartimaeus call, God heard  King Jehoshaphat’s call and as an answer to him, He sends His prophet to talk to King Jehoshaphat.

V.14-15 tells us “Then the Spirit  of the Lord came on Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah,  a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly.
He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged  because of this vast army. For the battle  is not yours, but God’s.”

Here we see that, God is sending His prophet Jahaziel to talk to him on behalf of God. God sent him to encourage him. Thus Jahaziel tells, King Jehoshaphat – listen there is no need for you to get discouraged or alarmed. As you see this vast army cannot do anything to you. They cannot harm you. You know as you are seeing this vast army and battle, this is not belong to you.

Here we see one of the greatest encouraging word from the Bible. Jahaziel tells him, see this Battle is not belongs to you but it belongs to God.

What an encouraging word for King Jehoshaphat. One can imagine thus far King Jehoshaphat might have been bit stressed out, now suddenly he regains all the physical and spiritual strength.

Often times, we are all in the same page like King Jehoshaphat, we get worried and feel whole world is on our shoulder. Soon we get stressed out. Soon we try to leave the field where we are engaged for our particular assignment. It happens in the homes, at our work place and even in spiritual work. Because as we all know that Satan is still ruling the world and try to discourage all the God’s children at an appropriate time. At that time if we do not have faith and commitment and also dependency on God like  King Jehoshaphat, soon we will be get defeated.
