Many believe behaviour determines one’s eternal destination, and by being “good enough” they can earn their heavenly home. But they have not grasped the crucial nature of Christ’s death on the cross. Jesus came to end our frustrated and inadequate self-efforts, and offer us not only a better way, but the best.
Let’s examine the full meaning of Christ’s sacrifice and all that it makes possible for those who believe. As we understand more about His substitutionary death on our behalf, our hearts will be filled with gratitude and the recognition of His abundant blessings.
• Our journey is away to Calvary just a day away … Are we Ready?
Ways of a Fool: He:
Cannot appreciate luxury and honor.
Proverbs 19:10
It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury—how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!
Proverbs 26:8
Like tying a stone in a sling is the giving of honor to a fool.
Is incapable of wisdom.
Proverbs 24:7
Wisdom is too high for fools; in the assembly at the gate they must not open their mouths.
Psalm 121:7-8
The LORD will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. —
One of my hardest challenges as a parent is knowing that I can't ultimately protect my children from some hurts and heartbreaks. Some of that pain is necessary to help them mature and grow. Some of it is just the agonizing result of living in a fallen world. But, we can be fully confident that if we share the Lord with them, if they give their lives to his will, nothing can steal them from his ultimate victory, care, and reunion with us and with him.
Knowing how we love them, imagine how much the Father loves us and longs to bring us to that place of safety in his house! Until we get home, isn't it comforting to know that he is watching over us and those we love, now and forevermore?
