Not according to man’s wisdom:
1 Corinthians 1:26
Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not
many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many
were of noble birth.
The heavenly calling of God:
Philippians 3:14
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has
called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
The holy calling:
2 Timothy 1:9
who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of
anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was
given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,
In peace:
1 Corinthians 7:15
But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man
or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in
peace.
Some refuse their calling:
Matthew 22:3-6
3 He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the
banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come.
4 “Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who
have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle
have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’
5 “But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field,
another to his business.
6 The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed
them.
Many are called; but few are chosen:
Matthew 22:14
“For many are invited, but few are chosen.”
We must make our calling sure:
2 Peter 1:10
Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your
calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall,
