Not mere
information about God, but a personal knowledge of God:
Genesis 3:8
Then the man
and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in
the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the
garden.
James 2:23
And the
scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited
to him as righteousness,” and he was called God's friend.
Deuteronomy
34:10
Since then,
no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,
Who in
the Bible desires such knowledge?
Christ
prayed “that they might know thee,”
John 17:3
Now this is
eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom
you have sent.
Moses
prayed, “That I might know thee,”
Exodus 33:13
If you are
pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find
favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”
God desires
for man to know Him,
Hosea 6:6
For I desire
mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
