Effects of the fall –
Short lived. Life is compared to:
A Pilgrimage
Genesis 7:9
There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male
and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
Water spilled on the
ground
2 Samuel 14:14
For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground,
which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet
doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.
Wind
Job 7:7
O remembers that my
life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good.
A passing cloud
Job 7:9
As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth
down to the grave shall come up no more.
A weaver’s shuttle
Job 7:6
My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent
without hope.
A shadow
Job 14:2
He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth
also as a shadow, and continueth not.
Green herbs that wither
Psalms 37:2
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as
the green herb.
Vanity
Psalms 144:4
Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth
away.
