Moses
Deuteronomy
9:9
When
I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the
covenant that the LORD had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days
and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water.
Deuteronomy
9:18
Then
once again I fell prostrate before the LORD for forty days and forty nights; I
ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sin you had committed,
doing what was evil in the LORD's sight and so provoking him to anger.
Deuteronomy
9:25
I
lay prostrate before the LORD those forty days and forty nights because the
LORD had said he would destroy you.
Deuteronomy
10:10
Now
I had stayed on the mountain forty days and nights, as I did the first time,
and the LORD listened to me at this time also. It was not his will to destroy
you.
Joshua
Exodus
24:13-18
13 Then
Moses set out with Joshua his aide, and Moses went up on the mountain of God.
14
He said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and
Hur are with you, and anyone involved in a dispute can go to them.”
15
When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it,
16
and the glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud
covered the mountain, and on the seventh day the LORD called to Moses from
within the cloud.
17
To the Israelites the glory of the LORD looked like a consuming fire on top of
the mountain.
18
Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on
the mountain forty days and forty nights.
Exodus
32:15-17
15
Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the Testimony
in his hands. They were inscribed on both sides, front and back.
16
The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved
on the tablets.
17
When Joshua heard the noise of the people shouting, he said to Moses, “There is
the sound of war in the camp.”
