Do not insist on keeping sinners on their knees. (Luke 18:
9-14)
To some who were confident of their own righteousness and
looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable:
“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and
the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself:
‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers,
adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a
tenth of all I get.”
“But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even
look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a
sinner.’
“I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home
justified before God. For everyone who
exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Do not let a sinner go away unsatisfied or doubtful if you
can persuade him to have faith in God’s Word. (Ephesians 2: 8-9)
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and
this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one
can boast.
1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just
and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Do not be discouraged—be faithful and leave results with God.
1 Peter 5:8-9:
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the
devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist
him, sanding firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout
the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
