Purpose in Everything

Purpose in Everything

We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him.  Romans 8:28

Everything? Everything.  Chicken-hearted disciples.  A two-timing Judas.  A pierced side.  Spineless Pharisees.  A hardhearted high priest.  In everything God worked.  I dare you to find one element of the cross that he did not manage for good or recycle for symbolism.  Give it a go.  I think you’ll find what I found—-every dark detail was actually a golden moment in the cause of Christ.
Can’t he do the same for you?

The One Who Leads

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.  Psalm 23:2, NKJV
Note the two pronouns preceding the two verbs in this verse.  He makes me… He leads me…
Who is in charge?  The shepherd.  The shepherd selects the trail and prepares the pasture.  The sheep’s job—our job—is to watch the shepherd.

God’s Staying Power

God always does what he says, and is gracious in everything he does.  Psalm 145:13; The Message
God never gives up.
When Moses said, “Here I am, send Aaron,” God didn’t give up…When Peter worshiped him at the supper and cursed him at the fire, he didn’t give up…
So, the next time doubt walks into your life remember the cross, where in holy blood is written the promise, “God would give up his only son before he’d give up on you.”
Concerning Talents
You made me and formed me with your hands.  Give me understanding so I can learn your commands.  Psalm 119:73
God has gifted you with talents.  He has done the same to your neighbor.  If you concern yourself with your neighbor’s talents, you will neglect yours.  But if you concern yourself with yours, you could inspire both.

New Clothes

“He has covered me with clothes of salvation and wrapped me with a coat of goodness, like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding, like a bride dressed in jewels” (Isaiah 61:10)
Do you ever feel unnoticed?  New clothes and styles may help for a while.  But if you want permanent change, learn to see yourself as God sees you….wrapped in clothes of salvation… like a bridegroom or bride dressed for their wedding.
Allow God’s love to change the way you look at you!
